Most Americans Reject Radical Gender Ideology

A recent survey conducted by Rasmussen presented findings that 71% of American adults are in agreement that “there are two genders, male and female,” with 57% expressing a strong level of agreement. Additionally, the survey revealed that over 60% of Americans show support for legislation that prohibits gender transition procedures for individuals under the age of 18. Further, the survey discovered that 67% of Democrats share the belief that there are only two genders.

These survey results indicate a growing consensus across the United States that seems to extend beyond political party lines. It’s no wonder that companies aggressively pushing gender ideology this month are experiencing serious backlash.

Thankfully, declared GOP candidates (so far) for the 2024 presidential race align with the majority of voters on this issue. The top candidates unanimously agree that sex-change treatments for minors should be banned.

Presidential campaigns of Republican candidates, including former President Donald Trump, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy, South Carolina Senator Tim Scott, and Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson, along with anticipated candidate former Vice President Mike Pence, have all vowed to oppose minors undergoing sex-change treatments.

Wisconsin Gov. Evers, on the other hand, has shown dedication to attacking God’s plan for humanity, as expressed in our biological sex.

In his budget proposal earlier this year, Evers proposed denying reality and biology by replacing throughout state law basically any word that is gender-identifying. For instance, he would replace “father” and “mother” with terms such as “parent,” “birth parent,“ or  “parent who gave birth to the child,” replacing “male” and “man” with “person,” replacing “husband” and “wife” with “spouse,” and replacing “woman” and “mother” in discussions about invitro fertilization with “person inseminated.”

Thankfully, the majority of Americans disagree with Evers on this issue. They still believe in basic biology and God’s design. Hopefully, upcoming elections will reflect this growing consensus.

Turning “Pride Month” into “Fidelity Month”

Rather than merely complaining about so-called “Pride Month,” Princeton professor Robert George has decided to do something about it. He has launched an effort to flip “Pride Month” on its head— dedicating the month not to a specific interest group, but to a moral virtue: fidelity. George proposes dedicating June to “the importance of fidelity to God, spouses and families, our country, and our communities.”

Fidelity is about faith and trust, about being faithful to a duty or to a truth. Fidelity is also about humility, because real fidelity requires that.

The LGBTQ+ movement encourages people to take pride in themselves. It promotes the abandonment of fidelity, disregarding commitments to spouses, children, and religious beliefs. It is a product of the sexual liberation movement, which is based on the notion that marriages need only last as long as feelings of love do. Fidelity month, on the other hand, encourages people to hold fast to their commitments and humble themselves to love and serve one another, recognizing that each of us has obligations to fill toward our neighbors.

Also in response to so-called “Pride Month,” Erick Erickson of World Magazine suggests that churches “designate the Sunday closest to the Obergefell decision to Genesis 1.” Erickson proposes that we recognize and celebrate Sunday, June 25, as Respect for Marriage Sunday. We can use this day as an opportunity to teach our children about the beauty of God’s design and why we must reject our secular culture’s distorted view of human sexuality.

Instead of grousing about “Pride Month,” let’s promote and model humble fidelity to what really matters, starting with God and His Word, moving to marriage and family, and then to our country.

Milwaukee’s Juvenile Crime On The Rise

First quarter crime statistics for Milwaukee were released recently. Included in the report was disturbing news regarding juvenile involvement.

WISN news has reported an alarming trend in gun violence among teenagers. Police say between January and April, 27 kids under the age of 17 were shot and injured— up 20 from last year. Police Chief Jeffrey Norman says the department sees “instances of carjackings and firearm-related crime attached to young adults.”

Addressing juvenile crime requires that we at least recognize that fatherlessness is a major factor. In Milwaukee, for years, over 80% of babies have been born to single moms, which immediately puts children at risk in many areas. Fathers play a vital role in setting boundaries, enforcing discipline, teaching boys to become responsible men, and more.

Further, research from the Institute for Family Studies found that “Even after taking mothers’ marital status, happiness, and background into account, not having a father in the house remains the number one predictor of teenage mental health problems.”

Fatherless homes produce children that are far more likely to become addicted to drugs and alcohol, live in poverty, commit suicide, struggle academically, drop out of school, engage in violence, commit crime, and even go to prison.

We cannot combat the growing incidence of crime and mental health disorders among youth without first tackling the crisis of fatherlessness.
